Bomnal
Bomnal is a Korean writer and anti-prostitution activist. After enduring the long, cold winter of prostitution, she returned to society in the season of spring, when all things begin to bloom again – hence her name Bomnal, which means ‘spring day’ in Korean. Reinterpreting the violence she experienced, she now works with passion in the anti-prostitution movement alongside fellow survivors.
She finds joy in small, everyday pleasures: chatting with friends, discovering good restaurants, cooking, traveling, going to concerts, and tending to her houseplants. Choosing to live a single life on her own terms, she tries to bring the warmth of a spring day to those around her – through kindness, generosity, and care.
Once You Cross a Street, You’re on the Edge of a Cliff received the 2021 Culture for Sexual Equality Award of Korea.
