To mark our 30 years, we are delighted to launch a series of special events with Spinifex Press authors.

WELCOME TO COUNTRY will feature:

Some of the discussions revolve around:

  • The telling of story is one of the oldest human activities, along with song, dance, music and art

  • Trauma, dadirri, the visceral effect of the building of the Hindmarsh Island bridge, impact of the nuclear industry on Indigenous peoples, stolen generations

  • Traditional medicine, the growing of food, the live traditions of Indigenous peoples

  • Astronomy, tracks, trails and the mapping of the world

  • Passing on of traditions eg schools, language

  • Feminism, decolonisation and the importance of it in the 21st century and beyond

  • Indigenous publishing and its importance to Spinifex Press as a feminist activity

This event will be across country as well as across the Tasman Sea.
