Betty McLellan is a feminist psychotherapist who established her own practice in Townsville in 1984. She returned from study in the United States in1977 and has been active in Australian feminist politics since, being a frequent speaker at political demonstrations and conferences throughout the country. She is a consultant to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health program in Townsville and is responsible for establishing the annual Winter Institute for Women held in North Queensland. She is also the author of Overcoming Anxiety: A positive approach to dealing with severe anxiety in your life (Allen & Unwin, 1992)
