Kim Manresa travelled to Africa in March 1999 in order to visit Kadi and see how she is. The last time he had seen her was on day of her circumcision, a year and a half ago. With so much talk of Kadi due to the publication of The Day Kadi Lost Part of Her Life, he was desperate for news of her.

While away, he spent four days with Kadi and her family in her village. She is fine: beautiful, healthy and smiling just as in the pictures prior to the ritual.

With the success of his photographs and the book, Kim decided to put the money he's earning towards an education for Kadi. Through discussion with her village, who now take care of Kadi, since the death of her mother. Kim has offered to book her into a public school in the local town, where she will live with friends from the village, and begins her first classes in July.
