Renee is an acclaimed New Zealand author and playwright. Born in 1929 of English/Irish and Ngati Kahungunu descent she left school at twelve and worked in a wool mill, a printing factory and a grocery-dairy. She then studied for a Bachelor of Arts at University of Auckland, and since has worked as a writer and administrator. She has been the recipient of a number of literary Grants and Scholarships, and has written several novels, and seventeen plays.
