The Journey Home/The Return Home/ Te Haerenga KaingaCATHIE DUNSFORD Fiction |
Cowrie wins a scholarship and moves to San Francisco. But the world there is very different from her island home. Perched in the borrowed apartment of a lesbian filmmaker just near a freeway, Cowrie explores this familiar world with fresh eyes.
Upstairs are the SMers, among her students are women who teach her a thing or two. And Cowrie, inevitably, falls in love - with food, with her new life, and with Peta.
But there is a price to pay for exile, even when it's voluntary.
Cathie Dunsford's new novel Manawa Toa: Heart Warrior continues the story of Cowrie.
