My search for Thai women in the virtual world took me to Hanover. The first women's publication from Thailand I got to know of was Voices of Thai Women. Published by a Bangkok based group called Foundation for Women, the journal also has an on-line edition. Look for http://www.comlink.apc.org/fic/index.htm and you will be able to read some excellent articles pertaining to women in Thailand. Foundation for Women is part of an international group called Global Alliance against Trafficking of Women. Email Bernd Schneider at FIC@oln.comlink.apc.org who edits the on-line newsletter to find out more about it or to contribute to the journal.
Foundation for Women can be contacted at:
Thailand also has two women's publishing houses; Tigress Press and Gender Press. While we are waiting to receive more details from them here is the information on Gender Press which we have. It was set up in 1992 with a view to disseminating information about women's issues which was hitherto limited to women's groups. Over the years Gender Press has brought out an extremely relevant list of publications. We hope to hear from them soon.
